what a replacement cv joint kit look like
When your mechanic informs you that your cv joint or cv boot needs replacing. Your cv joint kit will consist of the following.
- cv boot
- cv joint
- rings
- additional (clamps etc)
Do you need to replace the whole kit? No, sometimes you can get away with replacing the necessary parts only.
Leaking CV joint
Leaking CV joint indicate that the CV boot is torn, this means the grease leaks out and dirt gets in.
When the CV boot tears, the CV joint becomes compromised and either a replacement CV joint or boot is needed. If you’re lucky you might be able to just replace the CV boot.
Keep in mind if during the process the CV joint becomes stuck and the cannot be removed. The enquire CV joint and cv boot will need to be replaced.
Torn CV Boot
Completely torn CV boot. Compromised CV boots allow the grease to escape which is needed for the cv joint to be lubricated and the water and dirt to get in.
