Randburg & Hermanus

Roadworthy Inspection & Pre-Test Repairs

We are not a testing station. Fangio Auto does not carry out the roadworthy test and cannot issue a roadworthy certificate. What we do is inspect your car against the roadworthy checklist, tell you honestly what would fail, and repair it, so your car is ready when you take it in for the test. Randburg and Hermanus both offer this pre-roadworthy inspection and repair service.

What We Do

Roadworthy Inspection at Fangio Auto

We check the car properly, then fix only what needs fixing.

Pre-Roadworthy Checklist Inspection

We go through the roadworthy checklist item by item: lights, brakes, steering, suspension, wipers, mirrors, horn, seatbelts, exhaust and more, and tell you exactly what needs attention.

Brake System Repairs

Worn pads, discs or a handbrake that will not hold are common roadworthy failures. We repair or replace what does not meet the standard.

Suspension & Steering Repairs

Worn bushes, shocks or ball joints fail a roadworthy test. We fix the fault behind the symptom, not just the noise.

Lights, Wipers & Visibility

Blown bulbs, cracked lenses, worn wipers and a chipped windscreen are quick fails we can put right before your test.

Tyre & Wheel Bearing Checks

We check tread depth, tyre condition and wheel bearings against the roadworthy standard and tell you honestly what needs attention.

Hermanus: We Queue For You

At our Hermanus branch, once your car is ready, we can take it to the testing station and queue on your behalf, so you do not have to wait in line yourself. This service is offered at Hermanus only; at Randburg you take your own car in once the repairs are done.

Got Questions?

Roadworthy Inspection - FAQs

Do you issue a roadworthy certificate?

No. Fangio Auto is not a registered testing station and cannot issue a roadworthy certificate. We inspect your car against the roadworthy checklist, tell you what would fail, and carry out the repairs. The test itself and the certificate come from a registered testing station.

Do you carry out the roadworthy test?

No, we do not perform the test itself. We prepare your car so it is ready to pass when you take it in to a testing station.

Can Hermanus take my car to the testing station for me?

Yes. Our Hermanus branch offers a queue-for-you service: once your car is ready, we take it to the testing station and queue on your behalf. This is a Hermanus-only service. At Randburg, you take your own car in for testing once we have completed the repairs.

What usually fails a roadworthy test?

Common failures include worn brake pads or discs, bald or damaged tyres, non-working lights, a cracked windscreen, worn suspension bushes and a handbrake that will not hold. We check all of these during our inspection.

Will a roadworthy repair affect my service plan or warranty?

No. Roadworthy repairs are ordinary wear-and-tear work. We use correct-spec parts and keep proper records, so your plan and warranty stay intact under right-to-repair rules.

Where are you based?

Two branches: Randburg (Johannesburg) and Hermanus (Overberg). Pick your nearest branch on our contact page.
