What does a suspension repair actually cover?
Suspension is a system. A repair can mean shocks or struts, coil springs, strut top mounts, control arms, bushes, ball joints, stabiliser links or tie rods, on their own or together. We inspect the car first and quote only for the parts that are worn.
Do you do suspension work at the Randburg branch?
Yes. Suspension and shock absorber work is done at both branches, Randburg and Hermanus. Pick your nearest branch on our contact page and we will book you in.
How do I know if my shock absorbers are worn?
Common signs are a bouncy ride, nose-diving under braking, knocking over bumps and uneven tyre wear. A visible oil leak on the shock is a clear sign. We can inspect them and tell you exactly what is worn.
Should shock absorbers be replaced in pairs?
Yes, it is strongly recommended. Replacing only one shock on an axle leaves uneven damping side to side, which affects handling and braking. Replacing them in pairs keeps the car balanced and safe.
Can worn shocks affect braking and tyres?
Yes. Worn shocks let the tyres lose contact with the road more easily, which lengthens stopping distances and causes uneven, cupped tyre wear. Fixing them improves both safety and tyre life.
Do I need a wheel alignment after suspension work?
Usually, yes. Replacing suspension components can change the geometry, so we check the alignment afterwards to protect your tyres and keep the steering true.
