Air Bellow Replacement
Cracked, perished or split air springs replaced with new units for that corner of the car.
Hermanus Branch
A corner that sags overnight, a compressor that never stops or a suspension warning on the dash usually means a leaking air bellow. At Fangio Auto Hermanus we test the system, replace the split air spring with a new one and check the compressor and valves that feed it, so the car sits level again.
What We Do
Replacement with the correct new parts. We do not convert air suspension to coil springs.
Cracked, perished or split air springs replaced with new units for that corner of the car.
The system is pressure tested so we know whether it is the bellow, a line or a valve that is leaking.
The compressor, its relay and the dryer checked, because a leak makes them work until they fail.
Leaking valve blocks and chafed air lines found and replaced where they are the cause.
Ride height sensors checked and the system calibrated after the new parts are fitted.
Suspension warnings on the dash read with dealer-level diagnostics before any part is quoted.
Warning Signs
Air suspension faults show up as a change in ride height long before the warning light.
Why Choose Fangio
The one independent workshop in the Overberg that does this work properly.
We find the leak first. A new bellow on a corner with a leaking valve would sag again within weeks.
Hermanus is an RMI-approved workshop with dealer-level diagnostic equipment for the systems that manage air suspension.
You see the split bellow and get a clear quote before any part is fitted.

Got Questions?
The air bellow, also called the air spring, is the rubber bag that replaces a coil spring on air suspension. It flexes with every bump, so over the years the rubber cracks and eventually splits, usually at the bottom fold. Once it leaks, the compressor runs constantly to keep up and that corner of the car sags.
We replace them. A cracked or split bellow cannot be patched safely, so we fit a new air spring for that corner. The compressor, valve block and sensors are checked at the same time so the new bellow is not left doing the work of a failed part.
No. We replace the air suspension parts with the correct new parts and keep the car as it was designed. If you are considering a conversion, that is not something we offer.
A slow leak in that corner's air bellow is the usual cause. The system holds pressure while the compressor is running and loses it once the car is parked. A leaking air line or valve can do the same, so we test the system before quoting for a bellow.
Not for long. The car rides on the bump stops on that corner, which is harsh and hard on the tyre and the shock absorber, and the compressor can burn out from running constantly. Have it checked promptly.
Air suspension work is done at our Hermanus branch only. If you are in the Randburg area, contact us and we will point you in the right direction.
