Boost & Fault Diagnosis
Boost pressure measured and fault codes read, so a leaking pipe or a stuck actuator is not mistaken for a dead turbo.
Hermanus & Randburg
A loss of power, a whistle or siren under load, or blue smoke on acceleration usually means the turbo is failing or something feeding it has. At Fangio Auto we check boost, the oil supply, the intercooler and the pipework before condemning the turbo, then replace it with a quality unit and fix the cause, at both Randburg and Hermanus.
What We Do
Turbos fail for a reason. We find the reason, or the new turbo goes the same way.
Boost pressure measured and fault codes read, so a leaking pipe or a stuck actuator is not mistaken for a dead turbo.
Failed turbos replaced with quality new or reconditioned units, with new gaskets, oil feed and return lines where specified.
Blocked oil feed pipes and sludged return lines, the most common cause of turbo failure, cleaned or replaced with the job.
Sticking variable-vane actuators and wastegates that cause limp mode and overboost faults diagnosed and repaired.
Split boost hoses, leaking intercoolers and loose clamps that cause a loss of power found and fixed.
Carbon-choked intake manifolds and EGR valves that starve the turbo of air cleaned or replaced.
Warning Signs
A turbo fault gets expensive quickly. Book a check at the first sign.
Why Choose Fangio
We fix the cause of the failure, not just the turbo, so the replacement lasts.
Half the cars that arrive with a 'turbo problem' have a split hose or a stuck actuator. We test before quoting a turbo.
A new turbo on a blocked oil feed fails within weeks. Feed and return lines are checked or replaced with every turbo.
Turbo diagnosis and replacement is done at Randburg and at Hermanus, on petrol and diesel engines.

Got Questions?
Loss of power, a whistle or siren noise under load, blue smoke on acceleration, oil consumption and boost fault codes. Any one of these is worth a check before the turbo fails completely.
Carefully and not for long. A turbo that is shedding its bearings can send metal into the engine and its oil into the intercooler and intake. The sooner it is checked the smaller the job.
Most often oil starvation from a blocked feed pipe, dirty oil or long service intervals, followed by foreign objects entering the intake and by heat from switching the engine off hot. We check for all three.
Where the cause is an actuator or a wastegate, it can often be repaired. A turbo with shaft play or damaged wheels is replaced with a quality new or reconditioned unit.
Only if the turbo is the cause. Limp mode from an underboost code is often a split hose, a leaking intercooler or a stuck actuator. We diagnose the code before recommending a turbo.
Both. Randburg and Hermanus each diagnose and replace turbos on petrol and diesel engines.
